Her fingers dug into her skin, leaving white indents
behind, and she screwed her eyes shut. Whatever had possessed her to think that
she could do this? She couldn't bear to see the disgust in his eyes.
"I'm not the girl you knew."
She sensed him step closer, and she swallowed hard
to stop the ball of misery in her gut to escape out of her tightly compressed
lips.
"No, you're not."
An ice cold fist squeezed her heart at his words,
even as his hot breath whispered across her back.
"You're the woman I love."
