"Wait, don't leave."
He barely heard the words over the roar of the engine, and the pounding of his own heart. Damn it, he hated goodbyes. He'd said all there was to say last night, but he should have known Eleanor would not let him sneak away. He slammed the brakes on, and barely had time to turn round in his seat, before she pulled him out of the open window. Her scent surrounded him, her lips sought his, and he tasted her tears in the desperate kiss that followed.
"I hate this." She bit back a sob and clung to him.
"I know, baby, but I have to go. I wanted to remember you sated in our bed, not out here, not like this."
Another sob escaped her slender throat and she pushed herself as close to him as humanly possible. Their breaths mingled and he couldn't help himself. He had to taste her one last time. She opened willingly and he deepened the kiss, wishing like hell this moment could last.
When he at last pulled back tears glistened on her eyelashes, and he wiped them away with a swipe of his thumb.

"Farewell Eleanor, I love you."

  1. Aw! Now I'm all misty. Great tease, Doris. I love the way you build the emotions. You've done exactly what flash is supposed to do. You've packed so much meaning into so few words and every single syllable is just packed with power. I really loved this one.

  4. Deeply emotional AND deeply sexy. A bit of a tour de force there, where writing goodbye scenes is concerned. Loved it.
