Coffee cup in hand Sean stared across the courtyard, and he barely suppressed a grin. Ever since the delicious red head had moved in across the street, taking his coffee by the window had become his new ritual.
She had to know she could be seen, but then again, maybe she didn't. His vision was much sharper than a human's and the slats of her blind offered scant protection. The tantalizing glimpses he'd caught the first morning after she'd moved in, had his bear hooked. As the weather improved, and her windows opened to let in the breeze, it carried her scent across to him and with it the certain knowledge that she was his.
Sean was a patient man, and he knew the time was close.
Her exercise routine finished, she stopped by the open window and froze as her gaze locked with his.
Her scent increased and her eyes flashed to the amber of their species, as she showed her fangs and growled.
Sean sipped his coffee and smiled.
"Gotcha, little cub."
Revenge would be sweet and her time had just run out. He would get his mate back, and this time she would never run away again.
