Happy middle of the week to you lovely, peeps. It's time to tease you a little from my upcoming release Carmel's Choice. As ever thanks to the awesome Sandra Bunino for organising us all every week. If you're an Author, then why not join us next week and get your tease on.
It's always such fun to get these snippets from everyone.
To set the scene a little, Carmel has taken Nash up on his offer to meet him at his hotel room. Nash is her birthday present. Will she able to go through with it? Read on and see...
Carmel
looked nervous enough to cry red and take off as she stood there in his
doorway. Gideon had been right. She had a very expressive face, and right now
it showed her emotions as clearly as though she were voicing them out loud.
Guilt, worry, arousal, they were all there for him to read and interlaced with
it all an inherent sadness that pulled at his gut.
Life
was so fucking unfair. It had robbed two people in love of something precious.
There was no doubt in his mind that neither Carmel nor Gideon would have ever
considered bringing a third into their relationship were it not for that damn
bullet. Not that he had been invited in, per se. This was just for one night,
if she let him.
To
make it easier on her, he turned his back and walked over to the mini bar. He
poured himself a beer, and almost missed the soft click of the door shutting.
Her light, flowery scent warned him of her approach seconds before her
red-tipped fingernails clutched the edge of the mini bar and her soft, hesitant
voice soothed some of the churning in his gut.
“Have
you got another one of those, please?”
Without
looking at her, he flipped the top off one and slid it over to her, together
with a glass. He grinned when she ignored it and drank straight from the bottle
instead. A tense silence fell between them, and when she’d drained the last of
the bottle and slammed it down on the bar, he knew he had to put her mind at
ease.
Carmel’s
pulse jumped under his fingertips when he grasped her hand and stroked his
thumb over her wrists.
“Please,
I don’t think I can do this. It’s wrong. I shouldn’t be here, with you of all
people.” She looked up at him, and the tears shimmering in her sea-green eyes
felt like a punch to the gut. She didn’t pull her hand away, however, and her
breathing sped up the longer he simply held her hand and looked at her.
“Gideon
would say otherwise.” Her eyes widened at his quiet statement, and then focused
on the card he pulled out from behind the bar.
“He
wanted me to give you this, if you actually made it this far.”
Nash
let her hand go and watched as she opened the card with trembling hands and a
sob escaped her.
“I
don’t understand why he would do this. I don’t need…I mean, I don’t…oh, fuck.”
She dropped the card on the bar, and Nash picked it up.
“May
I?” he asked, and she nodded.
Enjoy
your birthday present, dove. You need some special time I can’t give you
anymore. Trust Nash to know what you need. I love you. G x
There
went another punch to his gut, and that knot of emotion just tightened further,
until he had to clear his throat several times to get it to work.
“We
don’t have to do this. Gideon was very clear that nothing happens without your
consent, pet. I know you don’t know me, so—”
“No.”
The one word held an edge of determination, even delivered in such a soft
cadence that he had to strain to hear it. She reached out to him when he
automatically pulled away at her denial, and his skin burned where her small
fingers curled around his forearm. “You’re wrong, you know. I do know you.
Gideon talks of you often. He was so happy when you sought him out after you
left the army. It broke his heart that you never came to see him after…well,
you know.”
Nash
swore and pulled out of her grasp. Shit, he couldn’t do this now. She’d hate
him, and he was here to make her happy, not to rehash the fucking past.
“Talk
to me, Nash, please. Why did you never come to see him?”
“I…Fuck,
he must have told you what happened. How could I, after I was the fucking
cause…” Nash couldn’t continue. In his mind he was back in that stinking bar,
holding his buddy and shouting for someone to call the medics as Gideon bled
out all over the fucking floor. He pushed away from the bar, not really seeing
the plush hotel room as the walls closed in on him and he found it hard to
breathe.
“Shhh,
it’s okay, you’re not there. Nash, come back, breathe, please. Sir…”
It
was the hesitant Sir that broke through the mist and the stench of the past,
and Nash reached out blindly until Carmel’s soft, feminine body was wrapped all
around him. Her fingers curled into his neck, and her breasts flattened against
his chest as she snuggled into his frame as closely as two people could be with
their clothes on. His breathing slowed until it matched hers. Nash shut his
eyes and buried his face in her neck, inhaling deeply of the scent of soft,
fragrant woman, until he had his emotions back under control, and he pulled the
shutter down on his past with a resounding clang.
With that came the all-consuming awareness of
the woman in his arms. He should pull away, put distance between them, he knew
that. Instead, his hands traced the curve of her spine until he reached the
globes of her ass, and Carmel gasped. She didn’t pull away, however, just went
perfectly still as her breathing sped up. Her rapid little puffs of air were such
a turn-on that Nash grew hard as nails, and Carmel moaned softly when he lifted
her up slightly so that he could grind his erection into the juncture of her
thighs.
“Fuck,
I want you so badly. I can’t even think straight.” Nash ground the words out in
between kisses delivered along her neck, and marched her backward until her
back hit the wall.
It’s just one night of kinky sex. What could possibly go wrong?
When the birthday present from her Master is one night of no holds barred kinky sex with his ex-army buddy, Carmel Blythe doesn’t know what to think. A good subbie obeys her Master’s wishes, however, and there is no denying the instant connection she has with this experienced Dom.
Topping Gideon’s gorgeous wife is the least Nash Jonas can do to repay the debt he owes the man. After all Gideon took the bullet aimed at Nash—the very one that cost the other man his army career, and put him in a wheelchair. If only Nash could keep those pesky emotions out of the deal.
Gideon cannot stand to see the sadness in his wife’s eyes, nor the restlessness in his best buddy’s soul. Pushing the two people he loves together, will surely satisfy everyone’s physical and emotional needs.
Carmel’s choice may well change everything…
