Eleanor knew she shouldn’t be back here, but there was only so much aimless chit chat she could stand. This was why she avoided parties at all cost—small talk. She never knew what to say, where to put her hands, who to talk to for that matter.
Besides, no one would miss her. They never did. Mousy little Eleanor, the office gopher. She glared at her reflection in the mirror, and then stuck her tongue out at herself.
An amused chuckle behind her made her spin round, and her screech of surprise died in her throat when the stranger held his finger up and frowned.
“Shhh, little one, you’ll spoil my surprise.” His heavily accented voice washed over her, and sent shivers down her spine. Dressed all in black this man made an imposing figure, one she ought to be frightened of. She hadn’t seen him in the mirror, so where had he come from?
“So many questions. I do like an inquisitive mind. Listen…”
He smiled, and her world tilted when she saw his fangs. From far away she heard the screams of terror, and he held out his hand.
“They’ll feast well tonight, but you are mine.”
