A look at Goddess by Chance #newrelease @erintheauthor #greekgods @evernightpub

Happy Monday, peeps. It's been a rather exciting weekend around these parts. Hope yours was great. Now, to get you over that Monday slump, how about some Greek Gods?

My guest today is here to tell you more about her new release Goddess by Chance.

Take it away, Erin :-)

****

Anyone who knows me is aware that I love all things Greek mythology. After I completed my first novel, Goddess of Legend, I started to wonder could there be more Demi-god Daughters out there that needed their stories told. To start with I had to decide what Greek goddess would be a good candidate to have a half mortal daughter. I’m sure who I chose will surprise many.
After that I thought about what kind of heroine I would have this time around. Since I’d created such a take charge, kick your butt heroine in the first novel in the series, I wanted to go for a much softer and more vulnerable heroine and thus Arienne was created. As for the god in this story, I wanted somebody a little rougher around the edges with more of a dark side. I’d say he’s more of an anti-hero than a hero and as a result he was a lot more interesting to write.

BLURB: Arienne Marcos is a librarian with a secret. She has superhuman strength, a genius level IQ, and a goddess mother who is never satisfied. When Arienne lands on the radar of a god determined to use her for revenge, she has no idea what she is in for.

When Chris Triton enters her life, Arienne is unprepared for the long dormant feelings and blazing passion he arouses, but while basking in her budding new relationship, Arienne is equally unprepared for the shattering event that nearly destroys her town and her entire life.

In time, Arienne will discover that her new lover harbors secrets of his own, secrets that could be deadly. Along the way she will find herself caught in the center of an eons old grudge between gods with a thirst for revenge.

EXCERPT: Triton’s eyes opened in the darkness as a soft hand wrapped around his cock. He didn’t move as Arienne continued to fondle him in the dark. Her innocent fascination with the part of him he was so proud of made him bite back a chuckle. As her thumb rubbed over the head, he couldn’t help the way his breath hissed through his teeth. Her hand left him immediately.

“Arienne,” he said in a soft tone.

She remained silent. His hand moved to lie between her breasts where he could feel the frantic pace of her heart beating.

“Sweetheart,” he tried again.

She sighed. “I didn’t mean to wake you. No, I did, but I…”

“You know you can tell me anything. Just say it.”

“I want to make love again.”

In the dark, Triton smiled. He shifted her in his arms until her head was on the pillow next to him. Even in the dark, he could see the expectant look on her face.

“I’d like nothing more,” he said.

She kissed him then, her lips soft and eager against his, and he pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her. Arienne’s erect nipples brushed against his chest and he grew harder. Her tongue slipped inside his mouth, making him groan. The sweetness of her kisses was nearly enough to undo him. Easing Arienne onto her back as her kisses became feverish, his hand reached between her legs where the evidence of her readiness couldn’t be denied.

Nudging her legs apart, he slowly he thrust inside of her and her tight, wet channel gripped him like a vise, stroking him. His hips pumped into hers at a languid pace, enjoying the velvety softness of her. She moaned against his mouth before her tongue slipped to tango with his. Every slide into the welcoming warmth of her body made him pulse with increased desire.

Saved by Perseus #newrelease @Stein_Ela #NFT @evernightpub

Happy Saturday, Folks.

In the second of today's  book spotlights, I have a lovely new addition to Evernight's Naughty Nursery Rhymes line, and Ela is here to tell you all about it.

****

Thank you so much for having me here today! I’m really excited to share my new release. This story is special to me because I have loved Greek Myths since I was a child. My mom used to read them to me at bedtime, before I had even learned to read. I’ve always wondered what those times must have been like in reality – the truth behind the myth. On the other hand, I was just as fascinated by the fantasy part of it – a world where gods really do walk the earth. In my story, I’ve created a world that’s as authentic as possible, but still holds onto all the fantasy. So it’s a bit of historical fiction mixed with fantasy, and with a whole lot of naughtiness sprinkled in. I mean, the myths do leave all the “fun” details out, so I made sure to put them all back in, just as they were meant to be ;)
There are lots of funky happenings going on here, and it’s part of Evernight’s exclusive multiple-author series “Naughty Fairytales”.  Andromeda is a curvaceous princess, and Perseus is the son of Zeus. Which, of course, explains his god-like body! I’m also pleased to share that this story was an “Editor’s Pick”.

Blurb:

Andromeda’s world comes crashing down when the Gods proclaim that she is to be chained to a rock and offered as a sacrifice to the sea monster that has been ravaging her lands. Terrified, she has no choice but to obey, though the tentacled creature is her worst nightmare come to life, and he has ominous plans for her. Perseus witnesses her plight and comes to her rescue, but liberating Andromeda requires more than just skill with his sword. Will his love be enough to save her not only from the monster, but from her dark past that conspires to never let her go?

Excerpt:

When I was a little girl, a snake bit me on the ankle. My mother told the story of how I barely survived, how I had gone in and out of consciousness, flushed with fever, eyes glazed. When I dreamed, I called out about falling into a pit of vipers.

And now before me, my nightmare came to life. Tentacles surged out of the water, but they far more resembled teeming snakes. Unlike octopus arms, they had no suction cups, and ended in blunt tips. Glistening and sinuous, they blindly explored the harsh rock, covering its entire surface, exploring each crevice, and inevitably coming closer and closer to me.

I dug my heels into the rock behind me and curled my toes in. I turned my head and would have shut my eyes, but I couldn’t force myself to stop staring at the monstrosity. Tugging at the shackles did no good and only made the panic surge to a higher pitch until I felt like a wild animal about to become prey.

Only a foot from my toes now, the snake appendages roamed over the rock, some thick and large, like a man’s thigh, and some thin like my little finger. One, about the thickness of my arm, separated itself from the others and moved higher up the rock, coming toward me. I gasped and pulled away from it as far as the chains would allow.

It slithered audibly over the rocky surface and nudged at my toes. I did shut my eyes then, and turned my head into my arm.

It slipped over my foot and wrapped itself about my ankle. I raised my leg and tried to shake it off, but it only coiled tighter about me, digging into my flesh as though to warn me. It wrapped more and more around my lower leg and then began to slowly travel upward, twisting over and over, over my knee and then over my thigh.

I clamped my legs together to halt its progress, but it was far stronger. It wormed its way between my limbs and under my skirt. Slowly it came ever closer to the apex of my thighs, and when it finally reached it, and brushed against my sex, I jumped. The strong muscle rubbed against my clit as it continued to flow upward, along my torso, slowly winding its way. The friction of it rubbing at me terrified and excited me at once. My eyes still closed, I only felt it when other snake limbs joined this one. Another one twined around my other leg, and still others wrapped themselves about my arms.

“My bride,” a rough voice whispered, loud as a thunderclap and yet so quiet I was sure I only heard it in my mind. It carried the same implacable weight of power as the words of the Oracle.

My eyes flew open, and I came face to face with Cetus.

Spotlight on Goddess of Legend @ErintheAuthor #new release @evernightpub #greekmythology

Hello, lovely peeps. I have a treat for you today!

I've always loved Greek Mythology myself, and my guest today is here to share the inspiration behind Goddess of Legend, so pull up a chair, grab a beverage of your choice and enjoy.

Take it away, Erin.

*****

I have always been a fan of Greek mythology, particularly the myth of Hades and Persephone, but what really spurred me to write Goddess of Legend was reading Aimee’ Carter’s Goddess Legacy series. She did such an amazing job bringing the Greek myth of Hades and Persephone up to date while not being afraid to push boundaries and do something different. After reading the series I wanted to take a stab at modernizing the Greek myths as well. Since I’ve always believed Hades got a bad rap so to speak, I decided to do my best to finally give him a happily ever after. From that desire, Goddess of Legend was born.

BLURB: Cameryn Kane is a Private Investigator with a spirit problem. She can talk to spirits, solve any homicide and has no love life. When an unexpected death sends her world into a tailspin, Cameryn finds comfort in the arms of a talk, dark and handsome stranger, Hades, God of the Underworld.
When Hades promises to bring her loved one back from the dead if she allows him the chance to woo her for six months in the dark Underworld, Cameryn readily agrees. While fighting her growing feelings for Hades, Cameryn must deal with the return of his ex-wife, Persephone, who is determined to get her husband back.
Cameryn will soon experience love and betrayal while discovering powers she never knew she had. Along the way she will also learn that she is at the center of a prophecy that could cost her, her life, while contending with the emergence of a mother who will stop at nothing to see her destroyed.
EXCERPT:
“Good morning, beautiful,” he said lazily.
“I think we should talk,” she said cutting right to the chase.
“Okay. I’m all ears.”
“What happened between us was extraordinary. You made me feel like I was special, and I will always treasure that.”
“But?” H asked prodding.
“I’m a mess right now. My sister was killed in an accident yesterday. That’s why I was at the bar last night. It’s also why I brought you home with me. I wanted to forget about my pain.”
“I can sense your heartache. I would never want to do anything to add to it.”
“You’re not. You’ve been so sweet. Any other guy would’ve probably run away as fast as he could if he woke up next to a hysterical female.”
“I’m not like most guys. What is it, Cameryn? Tell me.”
“I think it’s best if we don’t see each other again.”
“I see.”
“I’m not trying to hurt you. It’s just I have a lot to deal with right now, and I can’t devote myself to a relationship. I’m sorry.”
“What if I want a relationship with you?” he asked quietly.
“I can’t, H.”
“If you weren’t grieving for your sister would you consider giving us a chance?”
“I’m not sure,” she said honestly.
“You’d give anything to have your sister back, wouldn’t you?”
“Of course I would. Anything. But death is final,” Cameryn said climbing out bed and grabbing her robe.
“No, it isn’t. You can have your sister back.”
“Are you out of your mind? Deena’s dead, and nothing can bring her back,” Cameryn said as tears started rolling down her face.
“I can.”
“You can’t. Nobody can. Just go … please.”
“Not until you listen to me,” he said getting out of bed and walking over to her.
Cameryn tried to ignore his nakedness as he stood in front of her.
“I know this is going to be hard for you to believe, but I’m not really human. I’m Hades, the Lord of the Underworld, and I can give you back your sister,” he said softly touching her face.
Cameryn laughed. A deep bellyaching laugh. He was out of his mind. Trust her to pick up a crazy one night stand. What a waste.
“Listen, H, or whoever the hell you are, I’m not sure if you bumped your head or something, but clearly you have some mental issues. I really think you should go now.”
“Cameryn, I can assure you that I’m in complete control of my mental faculties, and I’m more than willing to prove it you,” he said smiling.
“Go ahead. Knock yourself out,” Cameryn said now fully convinced her dream lover was certifiable.
She crossed her arms and watched as he closed his eyes. He seemed to be concentrating hard. Cameryn couldn’t stop the gasp that came from her throat as she watched his naked body become magically swathed in black robes. She blinked rapidly, just to make sure she wasn’t imagining things. Nope. He was still standing in front of her wearing dark black robes. She started to shake when she saw a bright blue light surround him. When he opened his eyes and stared at her, she could see flames dancing in his eyes.
“Okay. You’re a magician, but you’re going to have to do better than that,” Cameryn said brazenly refusing to believe what she was seeing.
“Very well,” he said in a voice that now boomed.
Since when had his voice boomed? Cameryn screamed as he disappeared right before her eyes. When he reappeared in front of her a moment later, black clouds swirled around him. What had she gotten herself into?
“What are you?”
“I’m Hades, God of the Underworld.”
“You mean as in Greek god Hades? No. That stuff is only a bunch of myths.”
“And yet I stand before you now. You of all people should know that everything is not as it always appears, Cameryn.”
“What are you talking about?”
“You can talk to the dead. You find their spirits that cry out for rest.”
“How do you know about that?”
“I know a lot about you,” he said staring at her intently.
“What do you want?”
 “A chance.”
“A chance for what?”
“To woo you. Come to the Underworld with me.”
“Huh?” Cameryn asked too dumbfounded to believe what she was hearing.
“Come to the Underworld with me. Give me six months to show you that I can love you the way that you deserve. I want to make you immortal and have you rule at my side as my wife and queen for all eternity.”
He wanted her to be his wife! She had to be hallucinating. Maybe he’d drugged her last night when she wasn’t paying attention.
“If I agree to this, what happens at the end of six months?”
“Your sister will be returned to life, regardless of whether or not you decide to remain with me in the Underworld. It is my sincerest wish that during our time together you will come to love me as I already love you.”
“And if I stay with you, I’ll become immortal?”
“Yes. You will never grow old. You will never die. You will be eternally beautiful.”
“This is a lot to process. I don’t know what to say,” Cameryn said plopping down on her bed.
“I don’t expect you to make a decision right now. I’m a patient man. Take as much time as you need,” he said starting to fade away.
“Wait. How do I reach you?”
“Just call for me, and I will come. Farewell, beloved,” he said caressing her face.
And then he was gone.
