Flash Fiction Friday - Inspiration #FFF

Happy Friday, folks.
It's been an interesting end to the week for me. I wrote this flash whilst anxiously waiting to hear whether my sixteen year old had broken her ankle. Not surprisingly the words wouldn't come until I got the phone call, and yes, she did break it....

Jogging on the spot in her room. I keep telling her excercise isn't healthy.

*sniggers*

Anyhoo, here's your flash. Hope your week is ending on a high :-)

Writers block sucked—big time.
He slammed the front door shut and stamped the snow off his feet. His dark mood lifted slightly when he saw the trail of flower petals. Lola had left him a note.
Follow the flowers to unfurl your inspiration.
His curiosity peeked; he took the stairs two at a time, only to stop dead at the entrance to his bedroom.
There, like a writer's offering lay Lola, pen in hand.
She smiled at him and beckoned him over, opening her legs wide enough for the book to slip.
"I thought you needed a new canvas."

Friday Flashers have 100 words to tell a story from the provided picture prompt. Do check out the other flashers. You won't be disappointed. :-)
Till next week, folks.

  1. First, sometimes it's harder on the parents than the kids, this growing up thing. Given her thinness, I'd agree with you about exercise, not the excessive kind. However, some exercise is good for everyone. As for the snippet, what can I say. You have a talent I can only wish to maybe have a tenth of. This was fabulous in a gentle sexy way, made me smile and feel all fuzzy warm inside. Thank you for sharing your awesomeness.

  4. I'm thinking of your daughter, but I'm also thinking about you. Sometimes it's hardest on the mom, lol.

  6. So sorry about your daughter's ankle. I broke mine when I fell down the stairs at our restaurant when I was 45. Both sides requiring surgery, plates and screws, so it could've been worse! When I could slide down the stairs on my bum about 3 weeks later, I was cooking behind the grill in a wheelchair!! Anyway, this too shall pass, but not before everyone is at their wits end! About your flash, very clever and playful. ANYone would be inspired with that welcome after a chilly walk. Loved it:) xo
