Take it away, Raven :-)
*****
Print…
Only 5 letters. One word. One teeny weeny word. I mean think
how may other five letter important words there are, which shout at you in the
same way?
Loves… oh yes…
Adore… definitely…
eBook… too true…
Hubby…yep…
Drool… Johnny Depp…
Mates… of course…
Heart…fluttering now…
And that's just for starters.
However, seeing print in an email makes me shake and shout
Yee Haa. Especially when it says your book will be available in print on…
Because stupid though it seems, when you consider just how
many eBooks I have out and how many are genre best sellers, there's still a
special thrill to hold one in my sticky little mitts.
Not that they are sticky. No one but no one is going to
sully those pristine shiny covers with stickiness. Ha, I'd insist on while kid
gloves if I could. ;)
Okay, no not really, but you get the idea?
Even in this day and age, a lot of people don't think you’re
a 'proper' author until you can show them your book on the bookshelf. Write
your name inside and add with love. Then and only then will they say you're an
author.
It's not that so much with me, although yes, I can now say
with authority, when someone asks me, "ohh can I buy real books you've
written?", "Of course you can, and not FFS everything I've written is
a real book."
rant over
I would like to point out in italics lol Not
everyone is like that. In fact if truth be told, they are few and far between.
However lots of people don't have eReaders, or prefer to hold a book in their
hands. After all, I admit there's nothing like the smell of new paper and a
shiny strokeable cover.
Some would say a print book is better to read in the bath.
After all you can dry out the pages of a paperback a lot easier than drying out
an eReader. Don't make it a hardback though. They're too heavy to hold with one
hand. And if you're like me you've got a gin and tonic in the other.
And unless you invest in a see-through waterproof cover all
and are prepared to have trouble turning the virtual pages thing, then a sandy
beach isn't always the best place for electronics.
On the plane, on the bus, sneaking a read under the
bedclothes, hiding the full on sexy couple on a cover…yeah give me a eBook. In
fact eBooks are brilliant full stop.
But still, I love me a full to bursting bookshelf,
especially when one of those shelves has my own books on it.
So, this week is a mega chair swivel jiggle paperback week,
with two lovely shiny paperbacks out.
Diomhair Vol 1, which contains the first two Diomhair books,
Secrets Shared and Secrets Discovered, and Miss Simpkins' School for Seduction
Vol 1, which has the first five novellas of the Miss S Series. The stories of
Flora, Lydia, Miranda, Jane and Molly.
One contemporary BDSM, set in a Scottish Castle, and one
Regency set in a School for Seduction.
Diomhair, what happens there stays there.
It doesn't matter whether you want to learn or teach, be in
control or controlled, Diomhair could be the place for you.
The ruined castle deep in the Scottish countryside had been
rebuilt into an exclusive, private, BDSM club, where people could learn about
and enjoy the lifestyle.
Not everyone approved, and not everyone appreciated it, but
for those who did and fit the criteria, it was somewhere to go and be
themselves, relax and play.
And if you found love there, your own perfect match, well
that could only be a bonus.
For isn't the secret to true love the biggest secret of all?
Miss Simpkins' School for Seduction, where seduction's the
game and success is the aim.
Who better to advise the young ladies of
the ton than the ex-mistress of an earl? Not to mention, Molly has the backing
of said earl and his wife. After all, those potential husbands need to be shown
that their prim and proper wives can be more fun in the bedroom than any
mistress could ever hope to be.
Molly's methods may be unorthodox, and
would send the dowagers into fits of apoplexy if they knew what went on behind
closed doors. That doesn't stop her from throwing the doors of her new school
wide for the students who need her.
Meet Flora, Lydia, Miranda, Jane, and
Charles as they introduce their partners to the sexual delights to be found in
relationships that flout convention.
And if you want to know more, I'd love to see you on www.ravenmcallan.com
Happy Reading, whatever your taste,
Love R x
Thanks for letting me celebrate with you here xx
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing more magical, sensuous, than the feel of a book's pages in my hands, touching my skin. While I own an e-reader [iPad with lots of reading apps], I grew up on books - hardcover and paperback - and still prefer them when fits my budget. My idea of heaven would be a room whose 4 walls were covered by ceiling to floor shelves packed with books of all kinds.
