Interview with Faberge Nostromo and His Secret Dancer #debut #newrelease @FabergeNostromo

I'm rather excited to have debut Author Faberge Nostromo on my blog today. He's here to tell us more about his brand new release His Secret Dancer with Breathless Press.

Make yourself at home, Faberge.

Hi! *waves at Doris* Thanks for having me over as I think you are possibly the busiest author I know!
And have I ever mentioned that 'Goldie And Her Bears' is one of the first Breathless Press books I read?

Aw, thanks, Faberge. Hope you enjoyed those naughty bears ;-)

Q. What made you write ‘this’ story?

A. On holiday in South Africa last year me and Mrs Nostromo met a couple of interesting people.
One was a tall bearded German chap who was amiably chatting, over dinner, about his past and just happened to show us a picture from his days as a transvestite burlesque dancer. My jaw fell through the floor. He looked really quite different in fishnets, leotard, make-up and big hair. In fact he looked HOT! I've still never seen a pair of legs as good.
The other person was a certain lady sat by the swimming pool with a glass of wine and a MacBook. I asked her what she was doing and she said "I write erotic romance". A few (ok, more than a few) glasses of wine later and we're talking fonts and formatting and submission guidelines…  and a year later, almost to the day, my first book cover is sitting on the Breathless Press Facebook page next to one of Raven McAllan's. It's all her fault…

Ha ha, yes that Raven has a lot to answer for. ;-)

Q.Tell us about your cover.

A. I love it! Mina Carter is brilliant – she took up the challenge of conveying the mystery and androgyny of Danielle and even got the exact London skyline I'd pictured when I wrote a particular scene.
And even though getting that acceptance email is an amazing feeling, getting your cover art is easily as exciting.

Oh, yes. I love Cover Art day myself!

Q. Describe a typical day’s writing for us

A. I don't think I've had one yet, to be honest. Sometimes I'm scribbling longhand in a pocket notebook, some days I'm that commuter in the corner of the train typing one fingered on my phone or with my MacBook out on my lap (next time you see a bloke in a suit typing don't assume he's writing up notes for his next meeting with the IT department…). I try to stop for coffee on the way to the office and get some writing done over a latte and a muffin if I can – most of the editing for His Secret Dancer was done in a Caffe Nero. And sometimes inspiration hits in the middle of the day and I have to email myself a hastily typed note. Luxury is a quiet evening (I work away from home in the week) cross-legged on the bed in my bedsit with a glass of Shiraz and my Mac.

Q. What inspires you?

A. Other writers. People who've done it – got off their derrieres and delivered. In fact, anyone creative who's grabbed their talent and made it happen. Dancers and musicians particularly too.

Q. If you weren’t a writer what would you be?

A. I'm still a bit shy of saying that I am just yet…  but if I'm not/weren't then I'd have to be a guitar player in a band. *windmill arms a huge power chord*

Q. Do your characters ever surprise you?

A. Oh, blimey yes! I never knew that was going to happen and when it did I realized that I was probably doing it right – at last. It's so annoying but until they do it they're not real.

Q. What could not do without when you’re writing?

A.  I can't always have one nearby but I'm so much happier when I can reach out and grab a guitar or a ukulele.

Q. What words of wisdom do you have for the aspiring authors out there?

A. Just bloody well do it. Now.

Love it, lol.

Q. Where do you see yourself in ten year’s time?

Writing during the day, playing in a band in the evening and (total pipe dream) an occasional guest spot on Radio 4 on 'Just A Minute' J

Q. Do you have a favourite quote?

A. I can't help about the shape I'm, I can't sing, I ain't pretty and my legs are thin; but don’t ask me what I think of you, I might not give you the answer that you want me to (Oh Well – Fleetwood Mac)

Q. Do you ever suffer from writer’s block?

A. Yep, sure have. And the flipside where there's so much in your head and you can't write fast enough to get it down on paper.

Q. What other books can your readers look forward to?

A. Well, currently I'm writing a sci-fi but with a gender twist and ambiguous sexuality involved. And a hot green alien.

Sounds fascinating :-)

And finally can you share an excerpt with us?

A woman, slim, tall, smart business attire – dark blue jacket, strong shoulders, just above knee length skirt, black tights – possibly stockings, but an expensive pair – and a very nice pair of black court shoes, heels just under the low side of slutty but just above the high side of sensible. Her friend/partner was a little shorter; her hair a very neat, jet black bob over piercing eyes very subtly made up and the sexiest mouth Francine had ever gazed upon. Full, almost pouting dark red lips, shimmering with an understated but overwhelming moist invitation to kiss, if you dare. She seemed to smolder with an androgynous sexuality that made Francine catch her breath. They were plainly together, holding hands, eyes on each other and when the taller woman picked up one of the samples of cake that Francine had out on the counter and placed it with an innocent nonchalance, but oh so sexually, in the shorter woman's mouth Francine felt a shiver tingle from her clit through to the depths of her pussy. The shorter woman’s eyes closed as the fingers brushed her lips, dropping the sweet pastry onto her tongue. Her lips closed on the fingers and a soft ‘mmm’ escaped like a sigh as they were pulled away.

BLURB:

Dan's drab life is a world away from his secret life as Danielle, the burlesque star of Tomasz's transvestite nightclub, Trans-Action.

Having found 'her' inner T girl as a student, Danielle has discovered the power of her femininity and her talent to entice and excite—but she realizes that Dan's life is losing the passion it once had.

As Danielle's relationship with Tomasz takes her deeper into both her lover and his world, encountering passions neither thought they dare explore, demure Francine is too often left to her own devices and desires. Her only release is in the fantasies inspired by the customers who pass through her life and her patisserie.

Does she want a man in her life or a woman? Or both...

Seeing her man exploring her wardrobe she decides to embrace the power of her own sexuality. Then a sizzling encounter with Tomasz unlocks the vixen in her and sets their two worlds on a collision course.

Can Dan bring Dan's world and Danielle's together—especially when he discovers Danielle's secret lover secretly loving Francine?

Or will Tomasz come between them both?

  3. What a great interview - I love this cover too. Must admit I've more or less left my IT consultancy days behind, I much prefer spending my time writing erotic stories rather than IT specs and meeting minutes! Good luck with the book Fab, and looking forward to seeing you at my place in a couple of days!
