Blurb:

Cynthia’s dreams are so real, they are actually coming true – complete with the prerequisite dream guy. But things are not as they seem.
Who said dreams are sweet?
Chicago businesswoman Cynthia Courtland is completely focused on her career when a sensual, reoccurring dream disrupts her orderly life. Then a threat against her workplace forces her to take time off. She is lost with nowhere to go--only her empty apartment.
Work is Gabe’s life too; he takes it very seriously and will do whatever it takes to succeed. He's been watching over Cynthia for a long time and he has her best interests at heart, but can he protect her from the danger she is blind to? When Cynthia insists on investigating the threat so she can get back to work, it makes Gabe's job all the more difficult.
When things settle, will there be more for them than a life filled with work? Will she give her dreams a chance to come true?

Excerpt:

The air in her lungs rushed to escape and time stood still. She was aware of only him. Beyond her control, her head tilted and her whole body leaned toward him; her inner core pulsed and buzzed. He drew her in like a magnet, a moth to flame; she was helpless to resist his siren call. He emulated danger, looked like evil incarnate—black and dangerous, seductive and forbidden—and she wanted him.
When he grabbed her harshly by both shoulders, she snapped out of her lust-induced trance. “What do you think you’re doing?” she demanded.
“We must get out of here.” His words were calm, but his eyes stared right through her.
Cynthia opened her mouth to object.
“There is no time,” he announced as he tugged on her arm.
“Let go of me!” She tried to pull away. “I don’t know you.”
Holding her arm still, he stared into her eyes without saying a word.
Okay, he seems a little familiar. She gulped. “How do I know you?”
Giving her a penetrating look, he replied, “You know me. Quit wasting time.”
She opened her mouth to protest again.
“We must leave now.”
Should I go with him? She tilted her head and looked up at him. His gaze was strong and steady and made her feel safe. This is not the time to be indecisive. She thought about the threat at work and shivered despite the heat.
You will be safe with me. There is no time. We must leave now. His voice entered her thoughts like a caress in her mind and didn’t alarm her.
He was right. There was no time to analyze her options and run through various scenarios. For all she knew, every scenario without him could mean danger for her. Her body wanted to follow him, she admitted with reluctance, even if her mind resisted. Yes, she would go, she decided, even as she felt herself following him down the street.
Power resonated from his muscular build. He kept a hand in a firm but gentle hold on her elbow as they hurried down the sidewalk. Unmindful of their destination, Cynthia had ample time to study her new “friend.” He towered over her by at least a foot, wearing a black leather jacket despite the warm day, and dark jeans that showcased his narrow waist. Every beefy inch of him screamed passion and strength—his tight clothing doing nothing to disguise the sinewy muscles rippling in his legs as he moved—but she wasn’t frightened of him. She hesitated for a minute. Should I be afraid? No, she decided. She felt eerily calm, like all her life had been leading her up to this moment in time, and she was exactly where she was supposed to be. The reason she let a perfect stranger lead her to God-knew-where.
She shifted her thick hair over her shoulder as sweat soaked at the base of her neck. The day’s temperature had yet to peak, but it was already warm enough to be uncomfortable and practically running in office attire didn’t help matters.
“I need a moment,” she said.
They made an abrupt stop. The man offered her an unopened bottle of water. After casting an assessing look at him she accepted the bottle, and took a long, welcome drink.
“Thank you.”
The man dismissed her thanks with a casual shrug.
Cynthia shot him a questioning look.
“Later,” he replied in a brisk voice. “We need to go.”
“Where?”
“We need to go,” he repeated, ignoring her question.
They had covered several blocks and, as they moved further from her office, the sights became less familiar and a tremor of fear shook through her body. Where did this guy come from? Why does he think I know him? Because I do know him. The realization hit her hard in the stomach. It’s him.
“I need—”
“We need to keep going,” he insisted without further explanation.
“No!” She planted her hands on her hips and her feet in the firmest stance she could manage as she wobbled on the uneven sidewalk. Then she looked down at her feet and a strange sense of déjà vu washed over her as she stared at the cobblestone path. Her mouth gaped, her breathing quickened. With dread she looked up at the buildings on the street. Her vision blurred. Everything around her spun and faded away as she collapsed into strong arms. She had a vague awareness of him lifting her. As he adjusted his hold, she bounced against his solid chest. She must be dreaming. That was the only explanation that made sense. Nothing like this ever happened in her boring, ordinary life. It’s just a dream. Swallowing her disappointment, she glanced up at the determined expression on his face. He carried her effortlessly, like she weighed nothing. When she rested her head on his chest, she could feel his heart beating steadily. She ran her hand lightly across his defined bicep. Wow. He wasn’t real, but she might as well make the most of it; from experience she knew her dream wouldn’t last forever.

Flash Fiction Friday - Cat out of the Bag #FFF

Happy Friday, folks. This picture just screamed at me when we were given it. In fact, I wish I had more words... Anyhoo, enjoy, I hope :-)

To see the picture inspiration please click here.

John heard his father’s ravings before he’d even made it into the hall, and their old housekeeper winced as something hit the solid oak door of the old man’s study.
“He’s in a foul mood after seeing the papers. Perhaps you should come back tomorrow, Johnny.”
He shook his head, and twisted his wedding ring.
“No, this is long overdue, and really not the way I wanted to tell him, but—“
The door flung open and his father’s fury hit him straight in the gut, as he threw the papers in John’s face.

“How fucking dare you? Get out.”

****

Friday Flashers have 100 words to tell a story from the provided picture prompt. Do check out the other flashers. You won't be disappointed. :-)
Till next week, folks.

Fated Love #newrelease by @HJames_AZyon #western @evernightpub

Yey, April Zyon is back on my blog with her next instalment in her Massey Texas Series, Fated Love.

Blurb:

Brandy Carver was living her dream of making clothing for real, every day women. When she gains the wrong kind of attention from a man that doesn’t have “no” in his vocabulary there’s only one action to take—returning home where she’s safest, and where she can finally breathe once more.

Anthony “Crank” Romero, former Marine turned gentleman farmer, is willing to admit he’s a bit of a ladies man. The truth is he’s only looking for the right woman. Finding her when she’s got trouble on her tail wasn’t his plan, but he’s not about to argue when he’s tasked with keeping her safe.

Discovering Brandy’s interests in the bedroom makes Crank realize they are perfect for each other. Knowing he can’t let her go, not when she’s his perfect other half, he’ll do whatever is necessary to ensure that they have a chance at their fated love.

WARNING: Anal Play

Excerpt:

His phone ringing brought him out of the workout zone he’d fallen into. It also nearly caused him to drop the weight on his own foot. Thankfully, he managed to catch it—just.

Grabbing up his phone, Anthony frowned at the caller ID. “Crank here,” he said.

“That’s creepy, dude, stop that,” Rhys Hollister said to him.

He couldn’t have stopped the grin if he’d wanted to. “Crank does whatever Crank wants.” He knew how much the third person speak irritated Rhys. It was half the reason he did it around his former CO.

“I will beat you within an inch of your fucking life, Tony.”

Snickering, he let it drop and eased to sit on the workout bench. “What’s up, boss man?” he asked in all seriousness.

“I need to ask a favor, and yes, this will be on me.”

“Okay, what do you need?” he asked cautiously. While he’d do anything for Rhys, or the other men from his unit, that particular phrasing had him slightly worried and mildly curious.

“You may recall the Carvers took a hit the other day.”

Yeah, he did. “The youngest was killed, wasn’t she?” he asked quietly.

“So we all thought. Turns out it was a decoy she’d hired to keep the psycho who thought he owned her off her tail while she made her way home. Only the guy, a Colton Brody, got to the woman who was using Brandy’s name, cards, and so forth.”

“Son of a bitch,” he breathed out. “Was she dating the guy or something?”

“One date from what Brant and Frank told me. The guy latched onto her and isn’t the sort to let her go. He’s highly possessive from all the pieces of information we’ve gathered. He also is part of the NYPD family. His father’s a cop, his father’s father, and so forth. They have huge history with the force.”

“And cops protect cops,” Anthony said. Yeah, he knew how that went. The mythical Blue Line wasn’t really all that mythical if you went head to head with a cop. All you ended up with was an entire force out to get you. Not good.

“Yeah. She’s filed paperwork with IA up there, but says that anything against the Brodys tends to magically disappear if it isn’t misfiled, or incorrectly filled out. Funny how that shit tends to happen with the most rotten of the bunch.”

Rhys sounded pissed. Perfectly understandable from Anthony’s point of view. “I take it that Brant’s going to do something with his connections?” It was his baby sister, after all. Of course the man would do something.

“Yeah, and Frank as well. Not quite sure what that particular Carver has planned. Quite frankly, I don’t think I want to know. I like the plausible deniability of things when it comes to shit like that.”

Something else Anthony understood fully. Snorting out a laugh, he rubbed a hand over his head. “So what do you need from me?”

“They need someone to help keep a watch on her. While they are busy digging into Brody’s life, his family’s lives, and everything else to do with them on top of the NYPD, they need someone to protect her.”

“Guard dog duty then,” he said.

“More or less, yeah. It’ll be more than that. Oh, and I should mention Theresa’s fully on board with this. It was her suggestion, actually. Mostly I think because she knows her own boys and how overprotective they can get.”

“Smothering is the word you’re looking for, Rhys.”

“Shut up,” he muttered.

He grinned. Rhys was a big brother as well, so he damn well knew the point Anthony was trying to make. Especially since Rhys’s own baby sister was married into the Carver clan. To Brandy’s twin no less.

#MWTease from His Boss, Her Dom #newrelease @RavenMcAllan #bdsm @evernightpub #giveaway

Happy middle of the week to you, peeps. Thanks to our awesome host Sandra Bunino it's time to tease you, and I am giving my blog over to the lovely Raven McAllan again. She's had one productive January so far, and is here to tease us from her brand new release, His Boss, Her Dom.

To add to to the fun, she is giving away two e-books from her back list.

Enjoy the tease:

. "Here." Eva handed him a small bottle. "Antihistamine. It'll stop you itching. At this time of year the midges are horrendous. Lovely long evenings that I admire from behind glass, and watch clouds of the buggers trying to get in. Remember, repellent is your best friend on this route." She picked up the kettle and turned on the tap.
Jamie laughed. "Yes, Ma'am."
Eva spun round from the sink, unheeding of the water that spilled over her hands and dripped onto the floor. "Why did you call me Ma’am?"
Now he was confused. "Well, you sounded bossy. Sorry, I thought you'd get the joke. You know Ma’am, in charge sort of thing. I'm sorry if it upset you." Shit, I hope she's not one of those touchy feminist types.
"Not at all. I just wondered why Ma’am." She turned back to the sink, switched the tap off and then the kettle on before mopping the floor. Only then did she swivel around to face him again. "And yes, Sergeant, you can call me Ma’am, if you want to. Otherwise, here, Eva will be fine."
He knew fine well his jaw dropped. She'd made him? How the fuck?
Eva smiled at him. "Sorry Sergeant." She waved the letter he'd brought, and she'd signed for. "It doesn't matter how often I tell them that post to this neck of the woods takes longer than in the city, do they ever listen?" she asked—rhetorically he assumed. "Oh no," she went on. "They post this at some stupid hour of the night and expect me to get it the day after. Not only that some penny pinching asshat put a second class stamp on it. So, Sergeant James Swinton, from a different area of the force, How about telling me what you've found out."
He shut his mouth, and swallowed heavily. "Ah. Oh bollocks, am I deep in the shit?"
"Ah, indeed." Eva reached into a drawer and took out small leather wallet. "And no, not at all, unless you think you should be for not recognizing me." She went bright red. "Although I've only had brief contact with you. I...er...taught a session when you were on a training course last year." She handed him the wallet, and he saw what was inside.
A warrant card with her photo on and stating she was a Chief Inspector in the Scottish Police force. Okay, he'd buy that, even though it was the biggest cock deflator since Sadie Stewart laughed at his attempt to find her clit. Mind you he was only a teenager at the time, and his aim and attention to the female body had improved considerably since then.
"Ma’am." He snapped to attention and she laughed.
"I'm allegedly on holiday, and you're allegedly a postie, so we can cut the formalities I reckon. Time enough to get out the tags and labels when we have to. You're a long way from home, why did they choose you?"
Why did he think she was deliberately changing the subject? Oh she'd taught him, he didn't disbelieve that, but there was something else, he'd stake his pension on it. Now he thought about it, he couldn't believe he'd missed the connection. However this luscious woman with, he reckoned, braless breasts covered in a soft lawn gypsy style blouse, teamed with a long almost see through maxi skirt was nothing like the stern-faced woman in uniform that had addressed his class. Only the eyes were the same. A deep glittering blue-green that reminded him of the Caribbean Sea. As he stared into her eyes, a dim memory teased him. Where else had he seen eyes that beautiful color?
"Yes, I remember." He omitted the Ma’am this time and her eyes danced. "Well so far I've found zilch."
"Hmm, hold on let me make what, tea? Coffee? Then we can chat."
Jamie looked at his watch. "I've got about half an hour before I need to empty the post boxes in the afternoon uplift. I might be a policeman undercover, but it was made clear to me if I didn't do the job I'm in now, I'd be out on my ear. I even had to do the training before they let me loose on my own. Well, if you can call it that. Two days with Jimmy, who thinks I'm an eejit working somewhere where I don't know the Blacks live next door to the Greens and the Browns live across the crescent." He rolled his eyes. "All those people with colors for their names. So Scottish, but I bet people down south would think I was making it up."
"Very likely, but where's the Greys?"

"Next street."

Eva sniggered because it was true. "So, how did they get Jimmy to take leave?" She sounded genuinely interested. "All my letter says is you're here to see what you can find out without letting them know who you are."
"Evidently the post office ran a who's the best postie thing, and he won two weeks leave and some money to spend on a holiday."
"They did?"

"They didn't but someone put up the money."
Eva looked at her letter again. "I see it. Then when can we talk?"
"Once I've emptied the post boxes, I'm off shift. Could I come back then please Ma’am?" This time he did use her title. "From then, until seven in the morning, I'm off duty from both the police and the post office. So, are you the contact I was told I'd have?"
"It seems so, Sergeant." She also used his rank, and he was sure, on purpose. As if he would forget this woman he lusted after was his superior officer. "Are you plainclothes now? It doesn't say so here."
He shook his head. "No, Ma'am. I was chosen because I do a lot of walking around here, but I'm not a local. In theory that means I can find my way about and no one will know me. Of course it'll be Murphy's law some ex-ned will have moved here and I’ll be wanting his signature on something." He grimaced at the thought of some of the neds—petty criminals he'd crossed swords with in the past— who'd love the excuse to do him over. "But hey ho, I'll cross that bridge if I need to."
She dipped her head in agreement. Jamie watched, narrow- eyed, and quelled his cock, which was showing signs of interest in her unconscious subbie position.
"Then I'll see you as soon as you can get back. Aim to stop for supper." She blushed again. "If that doesn't put you out?"
Now her voice was hesitant, less commanding, more subservient perhaps? "Si...so?" She went the color of the rosy Rome Beauty apples in the bowl on the work surface and looked at her feet
There's that hesitation again. What a mass of contradictions she is. I wonder what was she going to say before she changed her mind? Sir, perhaps? It took all of his determination not to take hold of her hair or her chin and force her to look up at him. Then to push her onto her knees, and demand she assume the position.
Come on, wishful thinking won't make a Boss a sub. Not in the real world anyway and this is all too real, body armor if necessary and all. But, damned if I didn't wish she were a sub—my sub.

Having a relationship with your boss is never easy, especially when it involves kink. Jamie might need to salute Rosie and call her Ma'am at work, but when it's just the two of them, he is Master to his puss.
They are determined to make their unusual situation work, but, first they have to solve the case of the shady next door neighbors.

About Raven

Well what can I say?

I'm growing old disgracefully and loving it.
Dh and I live on the edge of a Scottish forest, and rattle around in a house much too big for us.
Our kids have grown up and flown the nest, but roll back up when they want to take a deep breath and smell the daisies so to speak.
I write in my study, which overlooks the garden and the lane. I'm often seen procrastinating, by checking out the wild life, looking—only looking—at the ironing basket and assuring tourists that indeed, I'm not the bed and breakfast. That would mean cooking fried eggs without breaking the yolks, and disturbing the dust bunnies as they procreate under the beds. Not to be thought of.
Being able to do what I love, and knowing people get pleasure from my writing is fantastic. Long may it last.

#TantalizingTuesdays - Sick Day

Happy Tuesday, folks. When I spotted this picture on TSU, I knew I had to write a tease for it. It's just so deliciously naughty, don't you think?

Serena woke up with a start, and cursed out loud when she saw how light it was. Damn it, why had her roommate not woken her up? She would be late for work again. I really need to get my phone fixed, or invest in an alarm clock.
No doubt Bridget was sleeping off another hangover. She was, after all, the ultimate party girl. Serena glared at the other woman’s shut door, took the corner into the living room and froze. Far from being asleep, the lucky cow was occupied. Stuffed full of the biggest cock, Serena had seen in a long time, Bridget was doing her best not to choke as she worked the stranger’s dick.
Head thrown back, hands balled into fists, the man groaned. The sounds of wet slurping increased, as Bridget renewed her efforts to make the hunk come.
Serena knew she should leave, give them some privacy, but she couldn’t take her eyes of him. Where on earth had Bridget found this sex on legs, hunk?
Arousal coursed through Serena’s veins, hot and heavy, and she slid her hand down her panties, just as that hunk opened his eyes, and smirked at her.
“Your turn, next.”

Meet Charm from @JaceyHolbrand's #newrelease Charmed #scifi #mfm @evernightpub

Those Mondays sure come round fast, don't they? Just as well I have a rather yummy story to take your mind off that fact. Take it away, Jacey :-)

*****

Thank you for having me on your blog! I’m happy to be here today to let your readers know about my newest release, ‘Charmed’, from my series, The Glorious Guild of Lady Windsurfer. The heroine of the story is here to talk about spending a day with a reader.

Greetings readers! My name is Charm, and like my author, I’m happy to be here today. I live in the future in a world that is vastly changed from what you all know. There have been terrible wars and environmental disasters. Tent communes have sprung up in major cities everywhere. This is the setting I grew up in. If I were to spend a day, a whole twenty four hours, with a reader, I’d rather travel back in time than have them come to mine. Upon my midnight arrival in a past Las Vegas, I’d want to go to a club, see what it’d be like to dance, listen to the music and drink. Afterwards, a visit to a café to have an early morning breakfast would be great. Then I’d love to go on a hike, smell fresh air, be in nature as it once was, have lunch at franchise restaurant, ride the roller coaster and play in the Adventure Dome. These are all things I’ve either seen remnants of in the city or read about in the books my boss collected. To round out the afternoon and go into the evening, I’d want to be taken to one of the buffets and dine for hours. Before we were to part at midnight, it’d be nice to go to the movies. I’ve heard about the moving pictures on big screens, the smell and taste of popcorn and sweet treats and how it used to be considered a wondrous experience. That’s the kind of day I’d love to spend with a reader, seeing what life used to be like in my home city.

Blurb
Charm knows how to get what she wants, but when faced with opposition, she tends to make bad choices. After a plan to subdue a Rullix goes wrong, Charm forces her way into two Auraths’ lives. They have a ship after all and can help her escape Earth and the Rullix.
Step-brothers, Thorne and Wade, are discussing Earth and mates when Charm dives into their presence. Each man believes her to be the partner he’s been waiting for. The men allow her passage in their spaceship, but are shot down by the Rullix and crash in a canyon.
Charm finds them sanctuary, yet even in the middle of nowhere, she still gets into trouble. Thorne and Wade have to figure out how to travel to Aurath before Charm’s bad choices lead to their demise.

Excerpt
Now, almost fifteen years later he had the rank of Captain, along with Wade, and they both were looking to be promoted to Commander. No one was going to call him weak. Not even his family.
“As you know, I have always had balls. I just choose not to show them all the time. Do not challenge me here.” Most times their relationship was just like this—volatile—but when the serene, quiet moments happened, he could almost hear Wade’s soul and knew the wealth of love that resided there for him and the family.
Wade slapped him on the back. Hard. Thorne shot a quick glare at him. Wade chuckled. “I am messing with you. You have been wound very tight lately. More than usual. What weighs on your mind?”
Thorne folded the paper and laid it beside his half eaten plate of food, realizing he’d lost his appetite during their conversation. “As you pointed out earlier, I ‘have’ said many times I have felt our mates would appear, and yes, we are still mateless.” He picked up the knife, flipped it and then moved his wrist to and fro, mindlessly practicing weapon control. The metal glinted in the sunlight sending bright beams into the crowd aimlessly milling about.
“I know I have sensed one before in New York City, in Florida, here in Las Vegas. So why have we not met?” Thorne jerked his head up. A slow sizzle spread through him, and his gut clenched. He looked out into the throng of unkempt people passing by the restaurant. The sizzle quickened, reminding him of the time he’d first made contact with his stepbrother. Wide eyed and with an open mouth, he stared at Wade.
Wade’s stern countenance turned to one of concern. “Thorne? What is it?”
Before he could reply, a barefoot woman, clad in rags across her breasts and in a short, matching skirt, crashed through the line of people and headed straight for them.

#SexySnippets from Let's Get it On "Get on your knees, Lily..." #bdsm #mfm @sirebookstrand

Happy Sunday, folks. I'm back with my latest release Let's Get it On. Ready for your hot seven?

To set the scene. Cyrus is away on business, and Lily has interrupted a Skype call between the brothers. Naturally this has consequences...

*winks*

Cyrus cursed the angle of the camera, which meant he couldn’t see properly, until Sloan moved sideways, while running his hands down their girl’s legs, and he gently pried her fingers away from her ankles.
“Get on your knees, Lily and drape yourself over the settee. Let Cyrus see how wet you are for us, and how much you want me to fuck you.”
“God, yes… please.”
Lily’s voice, muffled as it was by the sofa cushions she had buried her face in nonetheless shook with need and Sloan laughed.

“Yes, I thought you might like that, but not yet, what do you think, Cy? Does our girl deserve to come yet?”

[Ménage Amour: Erotic Consensual BDSM Ménage a Trois Romance, M/F/M, spanking, caning, ice play, erotic asphyxiation, sex toys, HEA]

When Lily Jephson falls asleep at work, her erotic dream is witnessed by none other than her boss’s brother. Awkward doesn’t begin to describe it, especially when she can’t help but respond to the enigmatic Dom. She wants his brother…doesn’t she?

Cyrus Cooper loves to play games, and he can’t resist the opportunity to yank his brother’s chain a bit. Nothing will convince the stubborn Sloan more to finally make a move on Lily than thinking this delightful subbie is involved with Cyrus.

However, when it becomes apparent that Lily needs help to work through the emotional scars left behind by her early introduction into the lifestyle, Cyrus knows this is far more than a game. The brothers are just the Doms to show her what a true D/s relationship should be like.

Lily thrives under their combined Dominance, but when her old Master re-appears her life is put in danger.

She has never needed her Sirs more.

How long will I love You #newrelease @IyanaJenna #mm #giveaway @evernightpub

I have a treat for you today. Iyana Jenna is here with a look at her new release How long will I love you, and she is doing a giveaway too!

Take it away, Iyana :-)

****

First of all, I’d like to thank you for having me on your blog. It means a lot to me. I would like to share with you and your readers my main inspirations of this story.

One day, my dear friend Louis Stevens posted a video of a singer Gavin DeGraw on his Facebook account. It was lovely and I loved the singer’s song. Well, one of my favorite singers is Ed Sheeran and I told Louis it would be a dream come true if Ed sings together with Gavin. A moment later, voila! Louis posted a video of them both singing together! Long story short, How Long Will I Love You was born. The title of this story was from a song but it was another story altogether and it wasn’t sung by any of the men.

By the way, here is the video of Gavin and Ed performing together on stage. I totally fell in love with them. I got completely inspired. My story isn’t in any way a real story about them, though. Heh. I wish! :D

Now if you watch the video until the end, it was their hug that completely melted my heart. *sighs* And here are the real life Ed

and Gavin.

Blurb:
It might look weird for a musician to *fangirl* another musician, but Ed Finley didn’t give a damn. He adored and had a crush on singer and pianist, Gavin O’Malley—to the point of sticking O’Malley’s pin-ups all over the walls of his room. Ed thought his dream had come true when he was scheduled to perform together with his idol on stage.
Gavin O’Malley thought Ed was okay when they ended up being together that night. The night meant everything to Ed, while it was only another one-night stand for Gavin.
Ed decides to stay away while Gavin, after rejecting Ed, couldn’t stop thinking about the other man. Will Gavin get a chance to tell Ed his true feelings?

Excerpt:
As soon as he got to L.A., Ed realized the mistake he’d made. Everything reminded him of Gavin, especially the invites to small jam sessions and dinners with fellow artists. He’d tried to avoid them all, but Nina, his assistant, kept reminding him not to miss those occasions.
“Don’t you see that I’m a human being, too? I’m tired, okay?”
Instead of answering, Nina squinted at him before she thrust an envelope at him.
“What’s that?” Suspicion crept into his heart.
“A live awards ceremony. Music awards. Next week.”
“Oh.” He took the invitation and looked at the card. It was a national show and it was going to be aired live on a major channel. It was a big deal. He glanced back at Nina. “Am I a nominee or something?” That was impossible. He’d have found out right away if he was nominated in a category. “Or am I going to present an award? How did you get this invitation?” Nina knew very well this wasn’t his type of thing.
She chuckled softly. The traitor.
“Relax. I didn’t have to kiss someone’s ass or get down on my knees for this. You’re an online phenomenon, Ed. They knew they’d get more publicity if they had you at their show.”
Ed wasn’t particularly afraid of what Nina would do if she wanted something, though he did worry about her sometimes. She’d do anything to get the things she wanted. But this was going to be a huge event with hundreds of celebrities. It was harmless. Safe. Even if Ed saw him there, he could easily slip away and hide. He sighed.
“All right. I’ll go.”
“Yay. I’ll RSVP.”
Ed rolled his eyes as he turned his back on a delighted Nina, who was already on the phone.
The invitation ruined the plan he’d made. Without Nina’s knowledge, he’d made a reservation to rent a cabin on a vineyard resort he often went to in Northern California. He needed fresh air and a place to clear his head. He’d thought being in L.A. would help, but the feeling that he could run into Gavin in any corner of the city kept haunting him. The shame—Ed could not get rid of it. He was lucky Gavin hadn’t talked to a tabloid about how Ed Finley literally threw himself at him and thought he had a chance to be Gavin O’Malley’s boyfriend.
A week or so on the vineyard would do him good. Too bad Ed had to postpone it now. He took a shuddering breath and cooked up another plan. The minute he left the award show, he would be on his way to escape to Moonshine Valley.

Nina walked ahead of Ed on the red carpet. He smiled inwardly at the sight of her—a diminutive figure, yet looking confident and ready to take any action Ed needed her to. Tonight she was lit up in her small, bright red dress with her golden hair tied up into a small chignon. She was pretty, Ed would give her that. He wouldn’t mind having her as his girlfriend if he liked girls. As it was, Ed didn’t mind taking her as his date tonight, though she might have minded if he’d insisted on going in his shirt and jeans.
“Ed!”
Ed jerked his head up. “Yeah?” He had been unaware of zoning out for a second there.
Nina gestured at him impatiently, so he headed toward her. She was standing near the velvet railing with a man on the other side of it who had a microphone in his hand.
“Hi,” greeted Ed. “How’re you doing?”
“Can you believe it? Louis Montague from the blog Louis’ Notes, himself! He wants to talk to you, Ed.” Nina sounded too chirpy for his liking, and his eyes narrowed in suspicion because the girl knew him well. He turned back to the man and offered his hand. Louis accepted and shook it hard.
“Ed Finley. It’s so great to finally see you.”
“Hi, Louis. Glad to see you too. I hope you like my songs.”
“Like your songs? I love them. They’re brilliant, man.”
“Come on.” Ed felt positively embarrassed. After all this time, he still couldn’t believe people actually listened to his work. He looked around and cursed silently when he found that Nina had disappeared.
“I’m serious. They’re emotional and fans really relate to them. I can’t stop listening to them. What’s coming up next from you?”
“Um.” Ed scratched his head, then promptly removed his wandering fingers. He’d spent more time than was necessary trying to tame his red curls, and he knew Nina would scold him for ruining them. “I write songs every night or between shows. I can’t stop the ideas from coming into my head. They keep bugging me until I write them down.”
“Sounds so easy for you.”
“Oh no, not at all. They’re raw ideas and thoughts. Mostly I still have to find the right tune for them, not to mention the lyrics and the music arrangements. Half of the raw ideas I have had have ended up in the garbage bin. Only half became full songs and just one or two of them get to be produced.” Ed thought he heard Louis mutter something. “Excuse me?”
Louis shook his head. “Nah. Just—if I tried to write songs, they would all get dumped.”
Ed snickered. “You don’t know that. You should try writing someday if you get an interesting idea.”
“I’d rather listen to yours, thanks.” Louis smiled widely. “So are you going to present an award tonight?”
“No. I’ll just sit tight and sweet in the audience. My pretty Nina did a good job finding me a place in there. She—” Ed waved sideways and stopped short. He gaped and his breathing became erratic. He hadn’t expected anyone to be standing next to him, to be so close to him, like…like…
“Hi, Ed.”
Like Gavin.

Author Bio:
Iyana writes M/M short stories and novellas. Her works have been published by Evernight Publishing, JMS Books, Books to Go Now, Torquere Press, Bitten Press, Leap of Faith Publishing, Breathless Press, and Alfie Dog Fiction.
Iyana lives in Jakarta, a city famous for its traffic jams, a lot of cars and motorcycles, and people selling stuff on the roads. You can spend two hours on the road going to a place you can reach in half an hour in a normal situation. Thanks to the traffic jams, though, Iyana can come up with a lot of stories, mostly shorties, as she prefers to spend the time during her trips writing into her cell phone rather than sleeping.
Another thing Iyana loves is kitties. Right now she has three of them. Their names are Cil, Horus, and Betsy, and one kitten. When she doesn’t write, she plays with them, or they would play with her when she writes.

Flash Fiction Friday - Full Circle #FFF

Happy Friday, folks. It's time to tease you again.  Hope you enjoy my take on this week's picture :-)

It was the eyes that drew him. He would recognize them everywhere, and Sean skidded to a stop at this picture. Rhianne looked like he remembered her, before the car crash that changed their lives forever.
Blood rushed in his ears, and the room spun, as his mind went overdrive. He scanned the picture for a signature, anything to give him more information.
“Beautiful, isn’t she?” The deep voice behind him made him spin round and his reply stuck in his throat, as he took in the young woman by this man’s side.
No.

“It’s how I see my mother.”
