#TantalizingTuesdays - Forever

Happy Tuesday, folks. I'm back teasing this week. I've had this picture earmarked for some time, and I finally found the right words.

A little bit sad, but also hopeful, I think. Enjoy, I hope.

Erin took a deep breath and tried to fix a smile on her face for the middle aged woman behind the desk.
“Can I help you, Miss?” she asked, and Erin swallowed past the lump in her throat.
“Yes, I—“
“I’ve got this, Jean.” The deep male voice seemed out of place in this retirement home, and Erin’s breath stalled in her throat when she turned round and saw him. Drop dead gorgeous did not do this guy justice. Messy brown hair tumbled over eyes so blue they reminded her of the deepest ocean. They crinkled up at the corner and drew her under their spell, as he held his hand out for her to shake.
“You must be Erin. They spoke of you often. It’s great to meet you, even if the circumstances are far from ideal. I’m so very sorry.”
His long fingers closed over hers, and somehow the usual platitude she’d heard too many times over the last week sounded sincere when it came from him.
He bent down to hand her a box and tears filled her eyes at the picture on the top.
“Your grandparents made everyone believe in the forever kind of love.”

  2. Lovely with a cutting edge sadness to it, but hopeful, loving. You have done it again. Yes, I believe in love, but I pray for magic. That is what is rare. Beautiful, Doris. xo
